Weedo Tina2 Feeder Upgrade

The filament feeder on the Tina2 is working well but I find it a bit uncomfortable. It's also very simple and doesn't offer any control on the filament griping force.
I designed these feeder upgrade parts to improve the original Tina2 feeder.

Weedo Tina2 Anti Z Wobbling mod

I noticed that the Weedo Tina2 3D printer has a tendency for slight Z wobbling.

So I designed a part that completely removes it which leads to much better prints.

Let there be light !

In my previous post I introduced you to the Weedo Tina2 3D printer on which I allready performed a few improvements.
Among them I told you that I will probably add some light inside it. Because I'd like to be able to better see my models being printed in dark situations or at night time.

So let me show you how this can be done in this very easy to follow tutorial...

Z homing made easy

The Z homing on a BfB Rapman is insured by an inverted bolt placed at the back of the extruder.
The bolt's head is actioning the Z switch when the bed moves up.
The bed to nozzle distance can be controled by tuning the lenght of that inverted bolt.

But I think it could be made much easier...

Building UP! a new filament spool holder

One of the thing I liked on the different videos of the UP! I've seen is it's original filament unrolling system. It used a very clever system with a dedicated motor that could free some filament from the spool when needed. It seems that this feature has disappeared, or maybe it's an option.

The fact is that the UP! I'm testing doesn't come with it and the way the spool gets hold could be improved...

So I decided to build up a better spool holder.

Making a multi tool holder

I will need something to hold a pen in place of the original extruder if I want to use my Rapman as a pen plotter.

As usual, I'm gonna design that part in Sketchup.

How to get rid of some excess stringing ?

When you print using the support feature with a diferent temp setting for the support, the print head will constantly go to its rest position to change its temperature.
Doing so, it will deposit some stringing on the printed object.

Let's see if we can manage to find a solution for that...

How much plastic is extruded for a given print ? (part 2)

After mounting my little extruder counter in the previous post, it's now time to test it.
Will it work ?

Pissed off with your fan sucking up your desk ?

Unless you mounted the PCB fan on its wrong side (which you should better check twice - 99% of the Rapman I've seen have been built with both fans upside-down !), you are probably pissed off having it sucking the dust from your desk !
And I don't even speak about the generated noise.
Let's try to find a solution for that...

The plastic conduits are just laying on my desk if I do nothing.
It's not a big deal but it could be better...

Building myself an horizontal filament reel

Mounting feet on my Rapman raised it enough to allow for an horizontal filament reel to take place under it. But I will have to take off the diagonal ties base...

Designing the left Y belt holders

In my previous post I've been printing Bogdan's right Y belt holders.
But I didn't find any allready done spare parts to replace the left Y belt holders.
So I decided to design them...

Printing Bogdan's bearing blocks

The way the bearing blocks are held on the original kit design is not ideal.
Bogdan has designed a set of spare parts to replace the bearing blocks.
So I'm gonna print and use them...

Printing Chylld's corners

The original Rapman kit corners are very fragile and can't be strongly tighten.
Chylld has designed some replacement corners that really look terrific !
So let's have a try at printing one of them...
